When FSA’s Director of Research and Protection, Dr Ronald Heath, was asked to present at the AgriSA Congress on the important role South Africa’s planted forests play in the country’s climate response, he immediately commissioned a video.
“I am a firm believer that a picture paints a thousands words and a video shows we not only talk-the-talk, we walk-the-walk. Thus showing a 4 minute video, over me giving a 20 minute talk, was the obvious option if we really wanted our message to hit home.”
Hit home it did. Within minutes of the video being shown FSA’s Executive Director, Michael Peter, was receiving WhatsApps from a host of individuals, including international embassy representatives praising the 4 minute clip, showing how South Africa’s commercial forests are more than just trees, they are a natural climate solution offering sustainable social, environmental and economic opportunities, and will remain at the heart of South Africa’s climate response.
