FSA Invited to NPC and Presidency Review of Masterplans

Aug 20, 2025

Forestry South Africa was honoured to be one of three Sectors invited to participated in a high-level round table with the National Planning Commission and the Presidency.

Review of the Masterplans

TheĀ  round table review panel was tasked with making recommendations to increase effectiveness of the masterplans and included a focus session on ‘What might a new masterplan delivery model look like?’ and a facilitated discussion on ‘Strengthening Masterplan Outcomes’.

During the review the Presidency praised the Forestry Industry for being so united and driven, complimenting FSA as being a highly-effective Association, which is not the case in most other sectors (making delivery on their Masterplans a lot more difficult). They also noted that forestry was on the cusp of “taking off”.

The sessions were then brilliantly summarised by Ms Tanya Cohen, formerly from the highly-successful PPGI and now Commissioner of the NPC, highlighting what could be taken forwards and presenting the next steps in this process. A full summary of the meeting will be presented by FSA Executive Director, Michael Peter, in the September issue of Forestry in Focus.
