TERS relief grant extended once again

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has announced a further extension to the Temporary Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) benefit payments until September 15.

While the payments have again been suspended to avoid further irregular expenditure as identified by the Auditor-General, members whose business remain adversely impacted upon due to the ongoing Covid 19 crisis, are encouraged to apply for this additional month. The UIF warned, however, that claimants who had outstanding claims for March to June, had up to September 15 to file their applications, while those who were applying for August to September 15, had up to October 30 to make their submissions. We anticipate, but not yet confirmed, that the government will continue to issue further extensions of the scheme until the state of disaster is lifted.
