COVID-19 Occupational Health and Safety measures in workplaces

Minister Nxesi has issued the final Covid-19 Occupational Health and Safety Directives. These provide clear guidance on the required measures to be put in place at workplaces with the implementation of Phase 4 lockdown. The specific details beyond the requirements of the OHS Act, start from Clause 16. Please note that through the NEDLAC process, sector-specific guidelines will also be produced. It is unlikely that we will need to do much more for our Sector than what is contained in these directives. The process will, however, afford us an opportunity to explore deviations and other sector-specific issues we may need to have addressed.
